"Our job is to record, each in [her] own way, this world of light and shadow and time
that will never come again exactly as it is today."

Falling Rain

flat light begins to
brighten the grey clouds
but the rain still falls.
the cold drops
bring a chill to my shoulders,
icy fingers on the keyboard
despite the heater
and the warm coffee
beside me.
i gaze through the
spattered pane
at the wet world
seeing nothing.
my thoughts on where i sit:
between. waiting.
my story falls open
to a different chapter
than yours.
i love you
but our lives
are divided
by a veil
like the sheeting rain.
scripts
populated by a different
cast of characters,
locations separated by
miles.
years.
in some ways we will
always connect.
and in some ways
we never will.

just feelin' a bit poetry-ish meself...

winter bum

summer snooze
and summer blues
pink little toes
and kick off shoes
light spins round
a carousel in time
the moments are the same
but bent with my mind
i open one eye
to see if it may
that other worldly vision
soft downy gray
what beams aloft
what stars alight
giving somewhere the shadow
and somewhere the bright
ever on and never back
these things
they just don't sensitize
they don't have tact!
i'll leave the trees
and i'll leave the green
just one day
one day
i'd need to see

That's what I like about poetry. It's oblique, like if you look directly at it, you won't be able to see it at all.

Chris, love that.

Leah, what a great way to put it.

I love the photo. Beautiful words, too.

Delurking belatedly - hello, there!

About Me

Once upon a time, I blogged. I was married, we lived in an adorable house with our adorable pets. Gradually I stopped writing. Abruptly I stopped being married. The pets went with my ex. Suddenly I found myself in the midst of months of painful, frightening, sometimes exhilarating, transition.

I am still not entirely clear of the rocks.

But I am beginning to see the other side.
